Procedure
15 g of 1,4-dibromobutane was added to a mixture of 5.0 g of compound 1 and 1.0 g of sodium hydride in dimethylformamide. After stirring the resulting mixture for 5 hours, the solvent was evaporated and the residue partitioned between water and ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate solution was dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated. The residue was purified by chromatography (dichloromethane). M.p. colourless oil.
