(5-Benzyloxy-2-formyl-4-methoxyphenoxy)acetic acid ethyl ester (1.5 g), 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (0.33 g) and acetic acid (0.026 g) in N,N-dimethylformamide (8 ml) were stirred at 100° C. under nitrogen for 5 hours. After cooling to room temperature the mixture was poured in ice water and the precipitate was filtered.
