A mixture of 5-(3-(ethylsulfonyl)phenyl)-3,8-dimethyl-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole-7-carboxylic acid (3.0 g, 73 mmol), N,N-Dimethylethylene diamine (g, mmol), HATU (g, mmol), triethylamine (g, mmol) and DMF (mL) was stirred at room temperature for two days. The reaction mixture was poured over ice affording a precipitate, The resulting suspension was filtered, rinsed with H2O and dried in vacuo to g (%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): δ 12.04 (s, 1H), 8.28-8.31 (m, 2H), 8.12 (s, 1H), 8.01-8.05 (m, 2H), 7.89 (t, 1H), 7.52 (s, 1H), 7.12 (s, 1H), 3.43 (q, 2H), 2.63 (s, 3H), 2.27 (s, 3H), 2.20 (s, 6H), 1.17 (t, 3H). MS (ES) [m+H] calc'd for C26H30N4O3S, 479; found 479.4.
