To a solution of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-[3-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl]-1H-indazole-7-carboxamide (Intermediate 23) (130 mg, 0.294 mmol) in THF (50 mL) was added MnO2 (900 mg, 8.8 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated at reduced pressure to give the crude title compound, which was used in the next step without further purification.
