To a suspension of 7-bromo-1-[(4-methoxybenzyl)amino][1]benzothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-4-carbonitrile (Example 12, Step 9) and [4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl]boronic acid (1.5 equiv) in 1-PrOH/H2O (4.5/1) (0.11 M) was added Pd2(dba)3 (0.03 equiv), Ph3P (0.06 equiv) and Et2NH (1.2 equiv). The mixture was degassed and heated to 150° C. for 10 min in a microwave reactor. The mixture was diluted with H2O and filtered. The crude product was swished with hot EtOH to give the title compound.
