Procedure

A solution of 4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-4-cyanocyclohexanone (3.5 mmol), triethylamine (3.5 mmol), 6,7-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline hydrochloride (3.5 mmol) and sodium cyanoborohydride (5 mmol) in 50 ml iso-propanol was stirred at 25° C. for several days, poured onto ice water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The salt was prepared from anhydrous HCl in ethyl acetate. ##STR15##
