A solution of [8-chloro-4-difluoromethoxy-2-ethyl-3-(4-pyrazol-1-ylbenzyl)quinolin-5-yloxy]acetic acid methyl ester (0.56 g) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) was treated with 1.0 M aqueous lithium hydroxide solution (2.4 mL), and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The mixture was diluted with 0.1 M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution, concentrated under reduced pressure and then extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution, dried over magnesium sulfate and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by trituration with a mixture of methanol and water, followed by column chromatography on C-18 column to afford title compound (0.35 g).
