4-dimethylaminopyridine (660 mg, 5.00 mmol) and tert-butyldimethylchlorosilane (4.90 g, 32.0 mmol) were added to a dimethylformamide (100 ml) solution of the compound (7.15 g, 27.0 mmol) obtained in Step 4 above and triethylamine (4.5 ml, 32.0 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours, then ice water (200 ml) was added to the reaction mixture and the precipitated solid was collected by filtration. The solid obtained was purified by silica gel column chromatography [n-hexane:ethyl acetate=3:1 (v/v)] to give the title compound (8.63 g, 85%) as a colorless solid.
