To a solution of 6.6 g 1-phenyl-3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone and 10.6 g 4-((S)-2-Amino-3-tert-butoxycarbonyl-propionyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid ethyl ester in 30 ml DMF 4.9 g HOBT, 10.6 ml DIPEA and 6.2 g EDC were added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 16 h at RT. Then the reaction mixture was evaporated, diluted with ethyl acetate and subsequently extracted with aqueous LiCl (4% w/w) and aqueous NaHCO3. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The crude product thus obtained was used in the subsequent reaction.
