Procedure
To a solution of benzaldehyde (2.0 g, 19 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (6.0 ml) was added hydroxylamine hydrochloride (1.3 g, 19 mmol) and triethylamine (2.6 ml, 19 mmol). The mixture was sonicated for 0.5 h and stirred at room temperature for 116 h and at 35° C. for 24 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in dichloromethane and washed with water, dried (MgSO4), filtered and evaporated in vacuo affording 1.9 g (84%) of benzaldehyde oxime as an oil.
