Procedure
102 g of 1,1-dimethyl-tetralin-4-carboxylic acid are treated while stirring with 27.4 g of phosphorus trichloride and the mixture is stirred at 50° C. for 3 hours. This treatment is carried out while excluding moisture and conducting away the resulting hydrochloric acid gas. The upper phase is separated after 12 hours and distilled over a short Vigreux column. There are obtained 87 g of 1,1-dimethyl-tetralin-4-carboxylic acid chloride of boiling point 89° C./0.2 mmHg; nD20 =1.5418-20; yield 78%.
