A reaction container to which a stirring rod and a thermometer had been set was charged with 683 parts of water, 11 parts of a sodium salt of sulfate of an ethylene oxide adduct of methacrylic acid (Eleminol RS-30, product of Sanyo Chemical Industries, Ltd.), 138 parts of styrene, 138 parts of methacrylic acid and 1 part of ammonium persulfate. The resultant mixture was stirred at 400 rpm for 15 min to prepare a white emulsion. The white emulsion was then heated to 75° C., followed by reaction for 5 hours. Next, 30 parts of a 1% by mass aqueous ammonium persulfate solution was added to the reaction mixture, and the resultant mixture was aged at 75° C. for 5 hours, to thereby obtain an aqueous dispersion liquid [fine particle dispersion liquid 1] of a vinyl resin (copolymer of styrene-methacrylic acid-sodium salt of sulfate of an ethylene oxide adduct of methacrylic acid). Through measurement with LA-920 (product of HORIBA Co.), the [fine particle dispersion liquid 1] was found to have a volume average particle diameter of 0.14 μm. Part of the [fine particle dispersion liquid 1] was dried to insolate resin.
