A solution of 6-(3-chloro-4-fluorobenzyl)-4-hydroxy-2-[4-(methylamino)butyl]-3,5-dioxo-2,3,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-2,6-naphthyridine-1-carboxylic acid (0.18 g, 0.40 mmol), 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrocloride (0.08 g, 0.41 mmol), and 1-hydroxy-7-azabenzotriazole (0.07 g, 0.51 mmol), and N-methylmorpholine (0.35 mL, 3.16 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (3 mL) was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatography. Collection and concentration of appropriate fractions provided the title compound.
