Procedure

Under nitrogen bubbling, a mixture of 2-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-3-acetic acid (3.21 g, 0.01 mole) and 1,1'-carbonyldiimidazole (1.62 g, 0.01 mole) in 150 ml of tetrahydrofuran was stirred at room temperature for 3 hrs. N-methylbenzylamine (1.33 g, 0.011 mole) was added, and the reaction mixture was allowed to stir at room temperature for 1 hr.
