Procedure

A solution of 0.9 g of 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-3-propanamide (obtained in Example 245), in hot isopropyl alcohol was acidified with ethereal hydrogen chloride. Isopropyl ether was added and a pink solid formed. The solid was collected by filtration, rinsed with isopropyl ether and then recrystallized from isopropyl alcoholisopropyl ether to give 0.81 g of a lavender solid. After drying at high vacuum, mp 215.5°-217° C.
