Procedure

To 6 mls of cold (0° C.) methoxypropene was added 3 mls of 2-iodoethanol and 1 drop of phosphorous oxychloride (POCl3). The reaction was stirred for 1 hour and then solid potassium carbonate was added. After 10 minutes the liquid was decanted and was concentrated to obtain the product as an oil.
