A 0.07M solution of (1R*,2R*,5S*,6R*)-8-benzyl-2-{[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methoxy}-1-phenyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-6-carboxylic acid trifluoroacetate (Example 53) in dichloromethane (2.5 ml, 0.18 mmol) was added to a mixture of piperidine (0.25 ml, 2.5 mmol), triethylamine (0.1 ml, 0.7 mmol), 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (66 mg, 0.34 mmol), and 4-N,N-dimethylaminopyridine (12 mg, 0.1 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and purified by chromatography on silica gel (iso-hexane:ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (100 mg, 88%).
