Procedure
Imidazole (5.5 g) was added to Compound 108 (8.83 g) dissolved in anhydrous DMF (100 mL) followed by addition of t-butyldiphenylsilylchloride (8.5 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred for 15 h at room temperature when it was complete. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc (400 mL) and washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (3×500 mL) followed by water (2×200 mL). The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. Finally the residue was purified on a silica gel column using 30% EtOAc in CH2Cl2 as the eluant. Appropriate fractions were collected and concentrated to give Compound 109 in 78% yield.
