2.6 g of benzoyl isothiocyanate were added dropwise, at room temperature, to a solution of 4 g of 5-(2-aminothiazol-4-ylmethylene)rhodanine-3-acetic acid in 70 ml of dimethylformamide. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 6 hours. then ethyl acetate was added and precipitated solids were filtered off. The ethyl acetate solution was washed with water and concentrated under reduced pressure, and the crystalline solid thus obtained was separated by filtration and recrystallized from acetic acid, giving the title compound as a yellow powder.
