A mixture of 472 mg (1.5 mmol) of 3-(4-methyl-benzo[b]thiophen-3-ylmethyl)-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2-thione and 407 mg (2.3 mmol) of methyl 4-bromobutyrate and 415 mg (3.0 mmol) of potassium carbonate in 5 mL of DMF is stirred at room temperature for 18 h. The mixture is diluted with water and the product is extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer is washed with water and brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue is purified by flash chromatography on silica gel eluted with 1˜5% methanol in dichloromethane to give the desired compound.
