A mixture of 4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)phenol (5 g, 22.8 mmole), (R)-tetrahydrofuran-3-yl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (6.6 g, 22.8 mmol) and K2CO3 (8.0 g, 58 mmole) in DMF (25 mL) was heated at 85° C. for 15 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water, dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated under vacuum The residue was purified by flash chromatography (silica gel, elute: 5% ethyl acetate in hexane) to give the title compound (2.4 g, 30% yield). MS (ESI) m/z: Calc. 290.2 (M+). Found: 291.1 (M+1).
