To a solution of 4-(benzyloxy)-3-cyclopropyl-6-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine 2.36 (270 mg, 0.67 mmol) in EtOH (6.5 mL) and DMF (2.1 mL) was added ammonium formate (670 mg, 10.6 mmol) and Pd(OH)2 on carbon (20 wt. % Pd, 70 mg). The mixture was heated to 65° C. and stirred for 40 min. The mixture was diluted with DMF (10 mL) and EtOH (10 mL) and was filtered through Celite. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo and the resulting crude solid was purified by silica gel chromatography (0% to 15% MeOH in DCM) to provide 3-cyclopropyl-6-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-4(5H)-one 2.37.
