To a mixture of 6-hydrazino-3-phenylpyrido[2,3-b]pyrazin-2-ol (3-3) (3.7 g, 14.5 mmol) and nicotinic acid (2.1 g, 17.4 mmol) in NMP (50 mL) was added EDC (3.1 g, 16.0 mmol), and stirred at room temperature for overnight. To the mixture was added water, and the resulting solid was collected by filtration to yield N-(2-hydroxy-3-phenylpyrido[2,3-b]pyrazin-6-yl)nicotinohydrazide (3-4).
