Procedure

Preparation I7, Step 1: A solution of 2-fluoro-5-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid (5.80 g) in N,N-dimethylformamide (190 mL) was treated sequentially with glycine t-butyl ester (5.50 g), BOP reagent (18.50 g), and N-methylmorpholine (9.20 mL). The mixture was stirred at rt for 12 h, then was diluted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with 1 M HCl, saturated aqueous NaHCO3, 5% aqueous LiCl, and brine, then was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under vacuum to provide tert-butyl 2-(2-fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzamido)acetate (16 g) as a white solid. MS found: (M+H)+=322.
