Procedure
To the crude alcohol resulting from Example 9A dissolved in dichloromethane was added p-toluenesulfonic acid (500 mg) and 2,2-dimethoxypropane. The reaction was stirred at ambient temperature for 24 hours and poured into saturated sodium bicarbonate solution. The organic phase was separated, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated by distillation to give the title compound. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz) δ 0.92 (d, J=6 Hz, 3H), 0.96 (d, J-6 Hz, 3H), 1.17 (ddd, J=4.5, 9.0, 15 Hz, 1H), 1.38 (s, 3H), 1.48 (s, 3H), 1.75 (m, 1H), 4.24 (ddd, J=3, 6, 9 Hz, 1H), 4.48 (m, 1H), 5.22 (ddd, J=1, 2, 9 Hz, 1H), 5.27 (ddd, J=1, 2, 17 Hz, 1H) , 5.81 (ddd, J=7.5, 9, 17 Hz, 1H) .
