Procedure
To a solution of (8-Methyl-4-oxo-4H-chromeno[4,3-C]pyrazol-1-yl)-acetic acid ethyl ester g (1 mmol, 286 mg) in THF (4 mL) was added 1M aq. LiOH (2 mL, 2 mmol) was added and the resultant mixture was stirred for 2 h at rt. The reaction mixture was neutralized with 1N HCl, and concentrated in vacuo to remove THF. The crude residue was extracted with ethyl acetate (3×20 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated to provide the desired product h that is used without further purification.
