A mixture of 7-benzyl-3-phenyl-2-(triethylsilanyl)-7H-furo[2,3-b]pyridin-4-one (1) and Pd(OH)2 (0.11 g 20% on C, 0.11 mmol) in ethyl acetate (10 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was degassed and stirred under hydrogen at room temperature for 2.5 hr. The catalyst was filtered off and the solvent was removed to give the title compound. MS (m/z), M+H+ 326.0.
