Procedure
A mixture of 2-fluoro-4-iodoaniline (10.0 g, 42.2 mmol) and CuCN (7.56 g, 84.4 mmol) in DMF (40 mL) was heated at reflux for 5 h. After being cooled down, EtOAc and 1N HCl were added. The mixture was filtered through celite. The organic phase was separated, washed sequentially with 1N HCl and brine. It was then dried over MgSO4, concentrated in vacuo to give a brown solid (5.69 g), which was pure enough for the next step. MS 137.1 (M+H).
