Procedure
2 mL trifluoroacetic acid are added to a solution of 0.19 g 1-chloro-4-(β-D-glucopyranos-1-yl)-2-[4-(1-tert-butyloxycarbonylpiperidin-4-yloxy)-benzyl]-benzene in 4 mL dichloromethane. The solution is stirred for 1.5 h at ambient temperature and then diluted with ethyl acetate. The resulting solution is treated with aqueous potassium carbonate solution and the organic phase is separated. The remaining basic aqueous phase is extracted with ethyl acetate and the combined organic phases are dried over sodium sulfate. The solvent is removed under reduced pressure to yield the product.
