To a solution of 4,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[b]thiepin-5-one (252 mg, 1.06 mmol) in 13 ml of tetrahydrofuran were added, at room temperature, triethylamine (0.16 ml, 1.16 mmol) and phenyl isothiocyanate (277 μl, 2.3 mmol). The mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 36 hours, concentrated and purified by column chromatography on silica gel (eluent: 4:1 diisopropyl ether/hexane). The product was obtained in a yield of 48 mg (12%).
