1-(Cyclopropylmethyl)-5-(6-ethenyl-2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-benzotriazole (77 mg, 0.21 mmol) was dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (1.4 mL) and treated with osmium tetraoxide (270 uL, 0.043 mmol, 0.2 equiv) and N-methylmorpholine N-oxide (25 mg, 0.21 mmol, 1 equiv). After stirring at ambient temperature for 1.5 hours, the mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (40 mL) and washed with sodium bicarbonate (2×30 mL, aqueous saturated). The combined organic extracts were dried with sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo, providing the titled compound.
