Procedure
In an analogous manner to the method described in Example 1B, 40 g 5-phenylpyrazolin-3-one in 120 ml dimethyl formamide were first deprotonated by reaction with 5.6 g of an 80% oily sodium hydride preparation and subsequently reacted with 11 ml chloroacetonitrile to form 3-cyanomethoxy-5-phenylpyrazole. Melting point: 143° C.
