17.5 g of the product of Step A were added to a solution of 175 ml of dimethylacetamide and a mixture of 2.11 g of sodium hydride as a 50% dispersion in oil and 100 ml of dimethylacetamide and the mixture was heated at 120° C. for 30 minutes and was then cooled. The mixture was poured into a mixture of water and 2N hydrochloric acid and the mixture was vacuum filtered. The product was washed with water and dried under pressure at 80° C. to obtain 16.7 g of 4-hydroxy-2-(1-propenyl)-N-(2-thiazolyl)-8-trifluoromethyl-3-quinoline-carboxamide melting at 265° C.
