Procedure

To a solution of 1-[4-acetyl-1-(3-chloro-4-hydroxy-phenyl)-2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrol-3-yl]-ethanone (prepared as outline in Example 57; 80 mg, 0.27 mmol) in 3 mL of dry DMF was added bromoethane (54 mg, 0.5 mmol) and K2CO3 powder (50 mg). The resulting reaction mixture was warmed to 50° C. and stirred for 1 h. It was quenched by addition of 20 mL of H2O, extracted with diethyl ether (20 mL×2). The combined organic extracts were washed with brine (50 mL), dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to afford 1-[4-acetyl-1-(3-chloro-4-ethoxy-phenyl)-2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrol-3-yl]-ethanone: MS (ESI) 302 (M+H)+.
