Trimethylsulfoxonium iodide (164.4 mg, 0.747 mmol) was added to a suspension of sodium hydride (89.6 mg, 2.24 mmol) (60% dispersion in oil) in DMF (2.0 mL) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 15 min after which time a solution of (E)-5-fluoro-3-((3-iodo-1-((2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy)methyl)-1H-indazol-6-yl)methylene)indolin-2-one (200 mg, 0.373 mmol) in DMF (1.25 ml) was added. The solution was stirred at 55° C. for 7.0 h prior to quenching reaction mass over 25% NH4Cl solution (10 mL) at room temperature. The product was extracted using ethyl acetate (15 mL×2) and the organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and evaporated in vacuo. The crude product was purified using silica gel column chromatography (hexane:acetone 80:20 as an eluent) to yield a creamy semi-solid, which was then triturated with hexanes (2.0 mL) to give the title compound as an off-white powder (94 mg, 46%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.48 (s, 1H), 7.46 (s, 1H), 7.41 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 7.03 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 6.86 (s, 1H), 6.78 (m, 1H), 5.72 (s, 2H), 5.68 (d, J=8 Hz, 1H), 3.54-3.48 (m, 3H), 2.34 (br s, 1H), 2.13 (br s, 1H), 0.88 (m, 2H), 0.03 (s, 9H).
