To 1,2-Benzenedicarboximide (4.29 g) in DMF (10 ml), (S)-(−)-1,2-epoxybutane (2.1 g) was added followed by K2CO3 (4.03 g) and heated at 60° C. for 48 h. The reaction was diluted with water, extracted with EtOAc, dried and solvent removed to give the subtitle compound as a white solid, 1.8 g.
