To a solution of the title compound of Step C of this example (500 mg; 1.35 mmole) in toluene (30 ml) and THF (1.5 ml) was added successively 4-hydroxy-3-bromophenylacetic acid, methyl ester (1 g, 4 mmoles), sodium hydride (169 mg; 7 mmoles) and 15-crown-5 (10 mg). The reaction mixture was refluxed for 10 hours under nitrogen. It was then worked-up as in Step B of Example 8 to yield the title compound of this step.
