4-Chloro-6-(1H-indazol-4-yl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine 7 (0.040 g, 0.141 mmol) was dissolved in 2 mL DMF. 2,6-Dimethylphenol 8b (0.034 g, 0.281 mmol) was added followed by the addition of potassium carbonate (0.2 g, 1.41 mmol) and the resultant reaction mixture was heated in a microwave at 155° C. for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and filtered and the organic portions were washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution followed by brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and solvent removed and purified to obtain 106 as a white solid (10 mg, 20%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 10.13 (s, 1H), 8.77 (s, 1H), 7.58 (t, J=7.2, 2H), 7.48 (dd, J=11.8, 19.0, 2H), 7.18 (s, 3H), 6.97 (d, J=23.8, 1H), 4.22 (s, 3H), 2.19 (s, 6H)
