Procedure
Potassium tert-butoxide (0.845 g, 10.56 mmol) was added to a solution of N-(tert-butyl)-1-phenylmethanesulfonamide (1.2 g, 5.28 mmol) and diethyl oxalate (0.85 mL, 6.33 mmol) in THF (8 mL) and the mixture was heated at 150° C. for 15 mins in a microwave reactor. The reaction mixture was acidified with 1M HCl, the THF was evaporated and the residue was Example tracted with DCM. Evaporation and trituration of the residue with petroleum ether gave the title compound (7 g, 63%) as a solid; 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.44-7.32 (m, 5H), 3.90 (br s, 1H), 1.36 (s, 9H); Mass Spectrum: M−H+ 280
