Procedure

A mixture of 7-(azidomethyl)-2-chloro-4-(4-fluorophenyl)quinoline (500 mg, 1.60 mmol), 1-ethyl-1-(trifluoromethyl)prop-2-yn-1-yl 4-nitrobenzoate (529 mg, 1.76 mmol), copper iodide (456 mg, 2.4 mmol) and diisopropylethylamine (1.4 mL, 8.04 mmol) in THF (10 mL) was stirred at rt for 16 h. The reaction was quenched with saturated aqueous NH4Cl and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. Purification on silica gel (eluting with EtOAc/hexanes, 4:6) gave the title compound. MS (+ESI): 614 (M+H)+.
