Procedure

To a solution of the product from step A (100 mg, 0.456 mmol) in a mixture of THF (1.5 mL) and methanol (0.5 mL) was added a solution of lithium hydroxide (0.558 mL of a 1 M soln, 0.588 mmol) and the resulting mixture stirred at room temperature for 90 mins. 1N HCl (0.558 mL, 0.558 mmol) was added and the mixture evaporated to dryness. The resulting crude product was used immediately without purification.
