4-Chlorobutyryl chloride (636 mg, 505 μl, 4.5 mmol) was added to a solution of ethyl 3-amino-5-bromobenzoate (1.0 g, 4.1 mmol) and triethylamine (455 mg, 630 ul, 4.5 mmol) in dichloromethane (25 ml) at 0° C. After complete addition the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes, then diluted with ethyl acetate (50 ml). The solution was washed with 2M HCl, saturated NaHCO3, water and brine. The organic phase was dried and evaporated to give the title compound as a pale yellow solid (1.35 g, 94%)
