To a solution of 0.02 g (0.07 mmol) of 3-(RS)-(4-(4-fluorophenyl)piperidinylmethyl)-4-(SR)-(cyclopropyl)pyrrolidine and 0.018 g (0.1 mmol) of 4-chlorobenzaldehyde (Aldrich) in 5 mL of dichloroethane at rt was added 0.063 g (0.3 mmol) of sodium triacetoxyborohydride and the reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h. To the reaction mixture was added a few drops of H2O and 5 mL of sat'd K2CO3 solution. The reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic fractions were dried over Na2SO4, filtered and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was purified by chomatography (silica, acetone: hexanes, 15%) to give the title compound.
