Procedure
A reaction mixture was prepared with 3.8 g (22 mmol) of m-bromophenol, 2.18 g (10 mmol) of 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone, 10 ml of dimethylacetamide (DMAc), 15 ml of toluene and 4.55 g of K2CO3, and reacted at 130° C. for 1 hour while N2 gas was passed into the mixture. Subsequently, the reaction temperature was raised to 160° C. to remove toluene and water in the reaction vessel as an azeotropic mixture, and the reaction was continued for 2 hours to obtain 5.25 g of 4,4'-bis(3-bromophenoxy) benzophenone. The yield was approximately 100%.
