To a solution of solution of 2-methanesulfinylpyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid (4-fluorophenyl)amide (141 mg, 0.50 mmol) in THF (3 mL) was added 3-mercaptopropionic acid (88 μL, 1.0 mmol) followed by DBU (320 μL, 2.1 mmol). The solution was stirred for 25 min, diluted with 1% NaHCO3, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The aqueous layer was acidified with 3% HCl to afford a white precipitate. The solids were collected by filtration, washed with water and dried to afford 128.8 mg (79% yield) of the titled compound as a white solid. API-MS m/z 322 (MH+), 320 (M−H)−.
