Procedure
Chloromethyl ethyl ether (0.20 g, 2.13 mmol) is added to a mixture of 4-bromo-2-(3,4,5-trichloro-2-thienyl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrrole-3-carbonitrile (0.30 g, 0.71 mmol) and potassium carbonate (0.29 g, 2.13 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide. The reation mixture is stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes, diluted with water and extracted with ether. The combined organic extracts are washed sequentially with water and brine, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to obtain a clear oil. Flash chromatography of the oil using silica gel and a 15% ethyl acetate in hexane solution gives the title product as white crystals (0 24 g, 71%, mp 85°14 87° C.)
