2-Fluoro-4-[hydroxy-(3-methyl-3H-imidazol-4-yl)-methyl]-benzonitrile (as described in Example 22, Step E) (0.172 g, 0.743 mmol), 2-naphthol (0.107 g, 0.743 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (0.727 g, 2.23 mmol) were dissolved in anhydrous DMF (5 mL) and heated at 60° C. under Ar for 2 days. The reaction was diluted with EtOAc, washed with satd. NaHCO3 solution, water, and brine. The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), concentrated and purified using SiO2 chromatography (1-2% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to give the title compound.
