Procedure
A mixture of 28-4 (0.3 g, 1.0 mmol), 2-amino-5-bromopyridine (0.3 g, 1.9 mmol), KOAc (0.3 g, 2.4 mmol) and Pd(OAc)2 (0.02 g, 0.1 mmol) in 6 mL DMF was purged with argon for 5 min and then heated at 90° C. for 7 hr and 115° C. for 48 hr. It was cooled, treated with 50 mL water and extracted with EtOAc (×3). The combined organic layers were washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4. After solvent removal, the residue was purified using silica gel flash chromatography (100% EtOAc to EtOAc/MeOH 10:1) to afford the desired product 28-5 as an oil.
