To a solution of 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-hydroxy-1-(4-methylphenyl)-3-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]butan-1-one oxime (0.45 g) and triphenylphosphine (0.60 g) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL), diethyl azodicarboxilate (0.44 g) was added, and the mixture was stirred for 24 hours at room temperature. After the reaction solution was diluted with t-butylmethylether, the solution was washed with water and saturated brine and the organic layer was then dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to yield 3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)-5-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4,5-dihydroisoxazole (0.11 g).
