Procedure
A solution of 2-(3-chloro-4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-3-cyclopentyl-propionic acid (prepared as in Example 143, 50 mg, 0.15 mmol) in methylene chloride (2 mL) was treated with N,N-dimethylformamide (1 drop) and then cooled to 0° C. The reaction mixture was then treated dropwise with a 2M solution of oxalyl chloride in methylene chloride (0.11 mL, 0.23 mmol) and stirred at 0° C. for 30 min. The reaction mixture was then treated with a solution of 2-aminopyrazine (29 mg, 0.30 mmol) and pyridine (0.06 mL, 0.76 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (2.5 mL). The resulting reaction mixture was allowed to warm to 25° C. where it was stirred for 16 h. The reaction mixture was then diluted with water (10 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×15 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. Biotage chromatography (FLASH 40S, Silica, 50/50 hexanes/ethyl acetate) afforded 2-(3-chloro-4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-3-cyclopentyl-N-pyrazin-2-yl-propionamide (53 mg, 86%) as a white foam: EI-HRMS m/e calcd for C19H22ClN3O3S (M+) 407.1070, found 407.1073.
